What are you doing, Gem, in the sky? Tell me what you are doing,<\/p>\n

Silent Gem?<\/p>\n

You sprout from the deep Earth, and you go,<\/p>\n

Crossing the deserts; then you settle.<\/p>\n

Are you still not satisfied<\/p>\n

With revisiting the eternal volcanoes?<\/p>\n

Do you not yet grow tired, are you still eager<\/p>\n

To gaze upon Rubies<\/a> and Burmese Sapphires<\/a>?<\/p>\n

The gemologist’s life<\/p>\n

Resembles yours.<\/p>\n

He rises at the first dawn,<\/p>\n

Moves the Gems under the microscope, and sees<\/p>\n

Synthetics, fillings and imitations;<\/p>\n

He sees Gems until evening,<\/p>\n

In search of a true market valuation.<\/p>\n

Tell me, oh Gem: what is the use<\/p>\n

Of analyzing a Diamond but not knowing how much it really is worth? Tell me: whither does it tend<\/p>\n

This brief uncertainty of mine<\/p>\n

Before an immortal Gem.<\/p>\n

White, expert gemologist,<\/p>\n

He falls, rises again, and hastens more and more,<\/p>\n

Without rest or refreshment,<\/p>\n

Tattered, bloodied; until he arrives<\/p>\n

There where the appraisal,<\/p>\n

And where so much analyzing was aimed:<\/p>\n

So then, how much are these Gems worth?<\/p>\n

\"gem<\/a><\/p>\n

Horrid, immense abyss,<\/p>\n

Where, plunging in, the Gemologist forgets.<\/p>\n

A Gem is born with struggle,<\/p>\n
