You really are special.. I always envy you a little..

What makes a Diamond special?
A scientist would answer that the cause of its uniqueness is the climatic conditions in which it forms in the Earth’s Mantle.
An economist would probably claim that it is rarity that makes it special.
A customer, on the other hand, would associate it with beauty and love.

All of this is actually pure reality!

Hard and Brilliant Diamond

The world is divided into animals, plants and minerals, but who is the king of minerals? It’s him, with his 99.95 percent of carbon atoms composing him, making him hard, fiery and sparkling: the Diamond!

Hardness makes it unique: it is so hard that only another Diamond can scratch it, but it is extreme rarity that determines its value.
Unlike bananas that grow on trees, the supply of diamonds is very limited. In fact, an average of one thousand tons of mineral must be excavated to extract a rough Diamond of about 0.30 carats. The Diamond is forever not because the slogan says so, but because it has:
1) timeless charm.
2) icy beauty.
3) infinite duration over time, thanks to its hardness, its resistance and its stability.

Diamonds survive a violent and brutal journey that begins in the Earth’s mantle, only to appear like a miracle in the arid deserts of South Africa, in the frozen Canadian tundra, or somewhere lost in the world.
The companies that excavate the mines not only must work in often inaccessible places, but they must also build the equivalent of a city around the mine to house and feed hundreds of workers.
Rarity, intrinsic beauty and the tremendous effort required to extract it are the key reasons why Diamond commands the highest market prices.

The G.I.A. 4Cs were the 3Cs two thousand years ago

When judging a Diamond, various qualities (value factors) must be taken into account that can make it of extremely different value. Without a systematic method of judging these qualities, there would be no way to compare one Diamond to another.

Fortunately G.I.A. (Gemological Institute of America), the most eminent world authority in the sector – whose mere mention shakes the walls of any other gemological institute in the world – has perfected a scientific system known throughout the world as the 4Cs: Clarity, Color, Cut and Carat Weight.

Carat Weight, Clarity and Color were the foundations of the first Diamond grading system established in India over two thousand years ago! Cut at that time was not so important and was underestimated, but it is now a vital parameter in judging this wonderful Gem. The value of all Diamonds depends on the combination of the 4Cs.

In nature, colorless Diamonds are much rarer than Diamonds with yellow tints, and Diamonds weighing more than three carats are extremely rarer than Diamonds weighing 0.30 carats.

Investing professionally is the key to success

For each of the 4 qualities of a Diamond, dozens of important factors must be taken into account, factors that only a true expert can identify. So when choosing your next Diamond, do not go in with your eyes closed: get advice from a professional.

The Gemological Institute of Genoa was founded specifically to protect your purchases and therefore your investments in an extremely delicate field such as this. For years it has made available to you the best professionals in the field of precious goods and the investments related to them.
